2023 Challenges
Discover our ongoing challenges
The SoccerNet challenges are back! We are proud to announce four new challenges at CVPR 2023 including 7 tasks split into three themes: 1. Broadcast video understanding, 2. Field Understanding, and 3. Player understanding. In particular, we propose three new tasks based on new soccer-related annotations and data. Feel free to check out our presentation video for more details. You have got plenty of time to come up with an amazing solution! The challenges end on the 30th of May 2023. As for last year's challenges, we will keep you updated on the latest news and the evolution of the leaderboards throughout the competition on our discord server.

Theme 1: Broadcast video Understanding
Action Spotting 2023
This challenge on the action spotting task is the third edition. It will be presented at the CVSports workshop at CVPR 2023. The task and annotations are the same as the previous challenge. Feel free to check out our github repository on the subject, as well as the challenge rules and the evaluation server.
Ball Action Spotting 2023 (new)
This new challenge is the same task as the action spotting challenge, but on a different set of annotation and videos. In this challenge, participants have to accurately spot (with a 1 second precision) all ball pass and drive event. The results of this challenge will be presented at the CVSports workshop at CVPR 2023. Dense Video Captioning 2023 (new)
This new challenge leverages the 500 games of SoccerNet and text annotations to propose the first dense video captioning challenge in soccer. In this challenge, participants have to generate captions describing the game anchored in time. The results of this challenge will be presented at the CVSports workshop at CVPR 2023. Theme 2: Field Understanding
Camera Calibration 2023
This second edition of the challenge on the camera calibration task includes more data and more annotations than the first edition. It will be sponsored by EVS Broadcast Equipments, with a 1000$ prize. Feel free to check out our github repository on the subject, as well as the challenge rules and the evaluation server.
Theme 3: Player Understanding
Player Tracking 2023
This challenge on the tracking task is the first edition. It will be sponsored by Baidu Research, with a 1000$ prize. Feel free to check out our github repository on the subject, as well as the challenge rules and the evaluation server.
Re-Identification 2023
This challenge on the re-identification task is the first edition. It will be sponsored by Synergy Sports, a division by SportRadar, with a 500$ prize. Feel free to check out our github repository on the subject, as well as the challenge rules and the evaluation server.
Jersey Number 2023 (new)
This new challenge is based on the data presented in SoccerNet-Tracking. The goal of this task is to classify the jersey number of a player inside a provided tracklets. It will be sponsored by Synergy Sports, a division by SportRadar, with a 500$ prize. Please check our Github repository for more details.
